REFRIGERANT CHARGE
Why didn’t I just “top off” your refrigerant?
A system does not use up refrigerant. If it is low, there is a leak. We verify charge with measurements — pressures and temperatures compared with the manufacturer’s targets — instead of adding refrigerant by feel.
WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Signs you might notice.
- Ice on the copper lines or the indoor coil
- Weak cooling on hot afternoons
- A system that was “recharged” before and is low again
WHAT WE DO ABOUT IT
We measure superheat and subcooling with connected instruments, document the readings, and talk about leak search before adding refrigerant.
