GAS FURNACES & GAS APPLIANCES · CHESAPEAKE & HAMPTON ROADS
Gas heat, verified with an analyzer.
Gas furnace service, repair and replacement, gas tankless water heaters, and combustion and carbon monoxide testing — measured with a calibrated analyzer, not a visual once-over.
HOW K&A CAN HELP
Let’s start with
what you need.
Gas equipment should be judged by measurement. A combustion analyzer reads carbon monoxide, oxygen and flue temperature while the burner runs, and clocking the gas meter confirms the furnace is firing at its rated input. Those numbers tell us whether your equipment is burning cleanly and venting properly — and they go in your report.
- Gas furnace service, repair and replacement
- Combustion analysis on every fall heating maintenance
- Clocking the gas meter to verify the furnace’s firing rate
- Carbon monoxide testing and low-level CO monitors (NSI 6000)
- Gas tankless water heaters
- Venting and flue inspections
COMMON SIGNS
Sound familiar?
- A CO alarm sounded (get outside and call 911 from outside first)
- Yellow, lazy or noisy burner flames
- Soot or rust around the furnace or water heater vent
- A furnace that short-cycles or trips its safeties
- You were told you have a cracked heat exchanger and want a second opinion
WHAT TO EXPECT
A visit with K&A.
- 01
We test combustion with a calibrated analyzer and record CO, O₂ and flue temperature.
- 02
We clock the gas meter and compare the firing rate with the nameplate.
- 03
We inspect venting and look for spillage.
- 04
You get the readings and a plain explanation of what they mean.
QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Before you call.
What is combustion analysis?
A probe in the flue samples exhaust while the furnace runs. The analyzer reports carbon monoxide, oxygen and flue temperature, which show whether the burner is tuned and burning cleanly.
Is a standard CO alarm enough?
Standard alarms are designed to sound at higher concentrations over time. A low-level CO monitor like the NSI 6000 shows readings starting at 5 ppm, so you can see a developing problem early. Keep working alarms either way.
Can you give a second opinion on a cracked heat exchanger?
Yes. We provide documented second opinions with photos and readings so you can decide with evidence.
