Let’s start with
what you need.
Many geothermal homes in Hampton Roads were installed years ago and the original installer is long gone. We pick up where they left off: we identify the equipment and loop type, measure how the system is actually performing, and explain what we find in plain language. When the heat pump nears the end of its life, the buried loop usually still has decades left — so replacement is a very different conversation than starting over.
- Geothermal heat pump service and repair
- Loop-side checks: flow, pressure and water/antifreeze temperatures
- Air-side checks: airflow, static pressure and duct condition
- Replacement planning when the indoor unit reaches end of life

For replacements, we size the new heat pump with a Manual J load calculation.
QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Before you call.
Do you service geothermal systems you didn’t install?
Yes. Most of the geothermal systems we see were installed by someone else. We start by identifying what you have and measuring how it is working.
Does the loop have to be replaced with the heat pump?
Usually not. Buried loops are built to last far longer than the indoor equipment. We check the loop’s flow, pressure and temperatures before recommending anything.
Is geothermal worth it in coastal Virginia?
It depends on the home, the loop and your plans. Ground temperatures are steadier than outdoor air, which is where the efficiency comes from. Use our geothermal savings estimator below, then let us look at your specific situation.

What could geothermal
save your home?
Move the sliders to match your home. Planning ranges only — every home, loop field, and electric rate is different.
